MISSION AND PURPOSE
We are Wilmette residents committed to preserve the existing visual historic charm and character of the Village while being open to development and progress to maintain the town’s growing vitality. We are committing to support and uphold this tenet.
HONORING WILMETTE’S CORE ARCHITECTURAL CHARACTER AND AESTHETIC
While we agree that progress and development are vital to Wilmette, so is honoring its historic charm and character, which for more than a century has been comprised of traditional styles. The Village needs to review any future development plans and test it against the desires and wishes of current Wilmette residents as well as Comprehensive Plans and studies since 1922.
OPTIMA 2
The Optima 2 development is out of sync, architecturally and aesthetically with the Village. This is an especially salient point in its proposed location on Green Bay Road, particularly on the Green Bay Road corridor, we contend that such a large, out-of-character construction project adds to a growing “glass canyon” first impression on Green Bay Road, incorrectly reflecting the Village’s core character and aesthetic.
